Meet Our Staff
Dr. Franco Vincelli (Clinic Director)
Dr. Franco Vincelli DC, BSc., ART®, CSCS joined the thriving practice of the Barrrhaven Chiropractic Health Centre as an associate in 2007. In August of 2009, Dr. Vincelli became the owner and clinic director of the Barrhaven Chiropractic Health Centre.
A graduate of Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto (DC) and the University of Western Ontario (BSc.), Dr. Vincelli is also a Certified Active Release Techniques Provider (ART®) and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCSAs a Chiropractor, Dr. Vincelli incorporates chiropractic treatments with soft tissue therapy (ART®), physical therapies, exercise (CSCS), rehabilitation and education to help his patients with the relief of pain, the alleviation of muscle tension and stiffness and the return to their daily activities faster.
Dr. Vincelli was born and raised in Nepean, before accepting a hockey scholarship to Niagara University, where he played Division 1 NCAA hockey. He also played for the University of Western Ontario, where he won a National Championship with the Western Mustangs Hockey Team. His passion for health, sports and prevention of sports injuries, extends beyond the clinic setting of the Barrhaven Chiropractic Health Centre. Dr. Vincelli serves as the editor of the Barrhaven Chiropractic Health Centre Newsletter and has authored several articles on the topic of injury prevention for the Ottawa Bicycle Club Newsletter and other publications. He has also focused his efforts on the advancement of chiropractic care through education and presentations to various groups and organizations, including the RCMP, the Running Room, Totten Sims Hubicki Engineers and Business Networking International (Competitive Edge Chapter). He continues to work with competitive athletes as their chiropractor and strength and conditioning coach, while also acting as a health and fitness consultant between patients and their personal trainers.
Dr. Vincelli's integrative approach to treatment, passion to educate and caring attitude lend his chiropractic skills to the successful treatment of his patients and ability to motivate them to a healthy lifestyle.
Dr. Don Pickett
Dr. Don Pickett graduated from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College (CMCC), Toronto, Ontario, in 1977. Consistently maintaining and graduating with an academic average in the top 5% of his class, he was also involved in student government as class president and played on both the college hockey and baseball teams.
Dr. Pickett’s education prior to his enrollment at the CMCC includes the Business Program at Algonquin College and Psychology at Carleton University both located in Ottawa, Ontario. Aside from the four years of study in Toronto, he has spent his entire life, both personal and professional, in the Ottawa-Carleton region.
Upon graduation and receiving his Doctor of Chiropractic, Dr. Pickett returned to Ottawa and established a practice in the Westboro area. In addition to working with the Ottawa Roughrider Football Club and athletes involved in the sports of weight lifting and boxing, he has provided chiropractic care to various entertainers and dancers from the NAC.
In 1992, Dr. Pickett relocated his office to the rapidly growing community of Barrhaven, and for a number of years was the only Chiropractor established in this west end neighborhood. Following many years of providing quality chiropractic care at the Barrhaven Crossing Plaza on Fallowfield Road, the office was relocated in July of 2007, to the Mulligan Plaza on Woodroffe Avenue at the juncture of Longfields Drive.
Felix C. Conyedo (Registered Massage Therapist)
Felix was born and raised in Cuba where he studied Civil engineering before discovering his true passion for health, healing and the treatment of soft-tissue injuries. Felix has completed two certificate programs in Massage Therapy, one while in Cuba and the other at CDI College here in Ottawa. He has been practicing massage therapy since 2006, specializing in all Swedish massage techniques, hydrotherapy, prenatal treatment and sports injuries. His extensive understanding of soft-tissue injuries combined with his technique has allowed Felix the opportunity to work in various clinical and outpatient settings including, Pro Physiotherapy Centre, Granite Ridge Long Term Care Centre, The Ottawa Senators Hockey Club, Vivianna Day Spa and Manuel Fajardo Sports Institute.
Felix ability in patient assessment and understanding patient needs ensures client satisfaction, while combining relaxation and therapeutic components of massage therapy allow for optimal therapeutic benefit.
Personally, Felix has been practicing Karate for seven years and strongly believes in “practicing what you preach” living a healthy active lifestyle.
Dr. Andréa Proulx BScH, ND.
Andréa graduated with a bachelor of science honours in the specialized Life Sciences program from Queen’s University. After working and travelling in Australia for one year, she furthered her education and training by graduating from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine (CCNM) as a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine.
As an ND, Andréa strives to empower her patients to take an active role in their health and enjoy a happy and active lifestyle. With patients Andréa strives to stimulate the body’s innate power to heal through nutritional and lifestyle counseling, acupuncture and traditional Asian medicine, botanical medicine, and physical medicine.
During her medical education, Andréa completed a rotation in the Pain Management and Sports Medicine Clinic where she was a forerunner and advocate for the continuity and development of the Naturopathic Sports Medicine Group.Both personally and professionally, Andréa endeavors to achieve creative balance for the needs of the mind, body, and soul. She believes in personalized care and addressing the root cause of disease; working together with the patient to see from new perspectives and realize new goals.
As a former Queen’s Golden Gael varsity Track & Field pole vaulter, Andréa has continued to nurture her love of sport. She has completed the Olympic distance triathlon and enjoyed the Ottawa Marathon numerous times. Dr Proulx firmly believes that it is important to be an active member of the community. Combining her passion for health and education, Andréa is a volunteer with Planned Parenthood Ottawa. In addition, she contributes her time, energy and organizational zeal to the Ottawa Carleton Ultimate Association.
